Singapore biggest and only active public cemetery – Choa Chu Kang Cemetery will be downsize by a third, from 318ha to 200ha.

Some 80,500 Chinese and Muslim graves will be exhumed progressively to expand Tengah Air Base, which in turn is to accommodate the relocation of Payer Lebar Air Base from 2030 onwards.

Family members who are affected by the grave exhumation can choose to relocate the remains of their loved one at government columbarium or at our Singapore Nirvana Memorial Garden, located nearby at Old Choa Chu Kang Road. Due to space constraints, the Government imposed in 1998 a burial period of 15 years for all graves in Choa Chu Kang, after which the remains would be exhumed and relocate.
